Good news for the firemen of Ibiza and its inhabitants, great investment of a new truck for the rescue of people in the city centre; surprising with state-of-the-art technology, we do not doubt that Ibiza has big projects to start up.

An articulated stairlift truck for the Ibiza fire brigade

New vehicle for Ibiza firefighters
The Ibiza Fire Park presented this morning its new articulated stairlift truck with a 32-metre staircase and a 430-kilo maximum load cabin that is approved for rescue of people. "The action within narrow streets, such as those in the city centre of Ibiza, will be much simpler thanks to this truck that has smaller dimensions,"said Miguel Ángel Vericad Marcuello, island councillor for the Environment. "It does not reach two metres wide and has a staircase extension of about 32 metres", he commented in the presentation.

"The investment that the Consell has made in this truck has been 700,000 euros. An effort to achieve cutting-edge technology that has not yet reached almost anywhere in Spain,"explained the minister. "We are planning to renovate the vehicle fleet of the Ibiza fire station. This new truck complements the two old stairlifts that the park already had, which have a lifespan of more than 30 years,"said Vericard.

"The selection board is meeting to convene new competitions with which the fire brigade can be stabilized here on the island. The idea is to be able to renew and expand it and add ten troops each year to the park because the firefighters per inhabitant ratio will increase with the new law of six,"explained Vericad on the issue that firefighters have long been claiming about the increase in the number of staff in the park. "The intention is to cover the shifts of the future sub-plaques of Santa Eulària, Sant Llorenç and Sant Josep" commented the minister. "The demolition of Sa Coma's facilities has now been put out to tender and, once demolished, the bidding process for the construction of the new fire station will begin,"said Vericad about the new fire station that wants to be built in Sa Coma, with the intention that it will become the base of the island fire station.
